Heinrich Schliemann Museum Ankershagen
Schliemann's parental home in Ankershagen, serves as the Heinrich-Schliemann-Museum.
Ankershagen is situated east of the Müritz, between Waren (Müritz) and Penzlin. When you see the Trojan horse, then you have reached the museum. Behind the church is a large car park.
The newly designed and spacial extended permanent exhibition 'Heinrich Schliemann - Life, Work and Memory' was opened in September 1998.
Apart from the extensive depiction of Schliemann's childhood and youth in Mecklenburg and the occupation as a merchant in Czarist Russia, the excavation activity of the filed archaeology pioneer is being brought to the fore.
Schliemann's lasting merits as the excavator of Troja and re-discoverer of Mycenaean culture is being commended.
